Dear Sir or Madam, On [Date of purchase] I bought [The product concerned] from [Name of the seller], under order number [Order or receipt number]. The item does not have the quality I was entitled to expect. The fault is as follows: [What is wrong with it] Goods must conform to the contract, and that obligation rests on you as the seller. This is the legal guarantee of conformity, which exists independently of and in addition to any commercial warranty the manufacturer may offer. I am therefore bringing the claim to you rather than to the manufacturer, and I do not accept being referred to a repair service at my own expense. I ask you to repair or replace the item free of charge, including any cost of carriage, within fourteen days. If repair or replacement is impossible or cannot be completed within a reasonable time, I ask instead for an appropriate reduction in price or for the contract to be rescinded and the purchase price refunded. Please confirm in writing within fourteen days how you intend to put this right. If I receive no reply, I will refer the matter to the competent disputes body. Yours faithfully, [Your name]
